What reviewers want to know

A motivation letter answers three questions: who you are, why this program, and what you will do after it. Reviewers read hundreds of letters, so make your answers clear and specific.

A structure that works

  1. Opening (3 to 4 lines): a real moment or problem that pushed you toward your field. No quotes from famous people.
  2. Your background: your studies, projects, work or volunteering. Pick two or three facts that prove you are ready.
  3. Why this program and country: name courses, professors, labs or the skills you will gain. Show you read the program page.
  4. Your plan after graduation: what you will do, where, and how it helps your community or country.
  5. Closing: one or two lines that connect everything.

Common mistakes

  • Repeating your CV line by line.
  • Writing the same letter for every scholarship.
  • Very long sentences and general words like “passionate” without examples.
  • Going over the word limit. Respect it exactly.

Before you submit

Read it out loud, ask a teacher or friend to check it, and make sure the scholarship and university names are correct.
