Student Visa Checklist After You Win a Scholarship
The documents most embassies ask for, and the steps to follow once you receive your scholarship letter.
Start as soon as you get the award letter
Visa appointments can take weeks in some countries. Book yours as soon as you have your admission and scholarship letters.
Documents most embassies ask for
- Valid passport (usually valid for at least six months after your planned stay)
- University admission letter
- Scholarship award letter showing what it covers
- Proof of accommodation, often provided by the scholarship
- Health insurance
- Passport photos in the required size
- Academic certificates and transcripts, sometimes translated and certified
Tips
- Read the embassy website of the country where you will study, not a forum.
- Keep paper copies and scans of everything.
- If the scholarship pays your stipend, bring its letter: it proves you can cover your living costs.
